Stained Glass Windows
For over 2000 years Christians have been telling of Gods love for us in Jesus
through words, music and art. One of the art forms which Christians have been using for
nearly a thousand years is stained glass. Stained glass was the multimedia of the medieval
age. It told in dramatic and powerful ways the biblical stories and helped convey to
people truth and meaning. At

Noahs Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth. God said, This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.

The Crucifixion When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they
crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left.
Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are
doing. And they cast lots to divide his clothing. And the people stood by, watching;
but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself if he
is the Messiah of God, his chosen one! The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and
offering him sour wine, and saying, If you are the King of the Jews, save
yourself! There was also an inscription over him, This is the King of the
Jews. One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him
and saying, Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us! But the other
rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of
condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve
for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong. Then he said, Jesus,
remember me when you come into your kingdom. He replied, Truly I tell you,
today you will be with me in

The Ressurection Early on the first day of the week, while it was stilldark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her. |
